Hiya people!

Can I write in Malay? Not that I can't write in English. It is just that I am practising my Malay which is getting worse by day. OK, I will just write even if you say NO. Haha!

Sekian,
The S'kali Team

I'm sorry to burst your bubble, o S'kali Team, but the film sucked. Big time. Acting was alright in some parts, really bad in others. Dialogue was good coz it made use of the normal lingo used by Malaysian, teenagers, I presume. But the writing of the whole thing? The script? The story? Sadly, it was bad. Jumping from one scene to another drove me mad.

All these "issues" about Malay privilege, inter-racial relationships… might have sounded really good when it was bandied about, but didn't translate well into writing, at all. The best 5 seconds from the movie, to me, was when the Mamak asked "asing ke sekali?" and the friends said "sekali!". Which is when I got the "aaahh…" moment of where the title came from, and thought, wah! What a good idea for a movie. Too bad this wasn't it.

I've always been a proponent of Malaysian films but please, this one is no where near being "well made". Could you please look at how the westerners do it and emulate them? Please? I'm not talking about Hollywood blockbusters here, just those Hallmark made for TV movies pun okay lah jugak… then I can proudly say yes, that's a good film made by our local people. I'm still waiting...

Better luck next time?

To S'kali's Team,

I am not sure how to put my thought after watching S’kali in Astro earlier today but you Guy’s definitely have done a GREAT JOB and you all should be proud of yourself to be brave enough to portray the real-life issued plague each ethnical group and our own prejudice within us. It is a great movie along side with Sepet & Gubra and hope to see more from you guys and next time hope to catch it in big screen and support you guys.

Best Regards

Mani
